Last June 15, 2026, the Guidance Service and Wellness Center (GSWC) had its benchmarking at the Persons with Disability Office (PDAO) Baguio City as Dr. Samuel G. Aquino the director of Baguio City PDAO is the one who headed the discussion.
Two of the guidance associates Ms. Ayrylle Joe P. Tindungan, Sir Noel Harry A. Estillore, and Mr. Emmanuel Q. Leocadio intern of the guidance office are the one who participated on the benchmarking . The discussion focused on the programs that the school can be able to conjoin with PDAO programs that focuses inclusivity not only on towards to those registered persons with disability but educating students that are afraid to disclose their identity. Dr. Samuel also discussed related to disclosing one’s person’s disability that people have the rights and freedom to disclose their disability or not. He also indicated that the only time that they can be identify as PWD when they able to comply with the requirements from the PDAO and able to be consulted to a licensed physicians or professionals.
Dr. Samuel iterated the laws that covers, protects, and benefits to the People with disabilities like R.A. No. 10754-An Act Expanding the Benefits and Privileges of Persons with Disability; R.A. No. 11650-Instituting a Policy of Inclusion and Services for Learners with Disabilities in Support of Inclusive Education Act; R.A No. 10524-Act Expanding the Positions Reserved for Persons with Disability (PWDs). From this benchmarking Dr. Samuel imagined that from this benchmarking he wanted the school to establish its own office just like it was implemented on R.A No. Establishing Institutional Mechanism To Ensure The Implementation Of Programs And Services For Persons With Disabilities In Every Province, City And Municipality, Amending Republic Act No. 7277, Otherwise Known As The Magna Carta For Disabled Persons, As Amended, And For Other Purposes where people with disabilities can able to run through if problems arise.
Dr. Samuel gave his final remarks by giving an assignment to the two guidance associates to explore furthermore on the Laws that the country has for them to deepen their understanding towards People with disabilities.
