2026 at the University of the Cordilleras kickstarted with Year 3 of #BerdeBeginnings as a continuation of initiatives aimed at promoting sustainability, creativity, and student engagement within the university community. Anchored on the theme of fresh starts and mindful living, the activity sought to welcome the new year with meaningful, student-centered programs that encourage participation, self-expression, and environmental consciousness.
The program ran for the whole month of January which featured two (2) activities: Swap Party and a Vlog Competition entitled “A Day in My Life as a UCian.” These activities were designed to foster camaraderie among students, highlight sustainability, and provide a platform for showcasing authentic student experiences.
The Swap Party served as an interactive and eco-friendly activity where students were encouraged to bring pre-loved items such as clothes, accessories, books, and other usable items to exchange with fellow participants. This activity highlighted the importance of reuse and sustainability while allowing students to refresh their belongings without financial cost.
Participants actively engaged in browsing and swapping items, fostering a lively and collaborative atmosphere. The activity not only reduced waste but also promoted conscious consumer behavior and community sharing among students.
The vlog competition invited students to creatively document and share their daily experiences as UC students. Entries showcased various aspects of campus life, including academic routines, extracurricular activities, personal interests, and moments of connection within the university.
Through this competition, students were able to express their individuality, creativity, and perspectives while highlighting what it means to be a UCian. The vlogs reflected authenticity, diversity, and school pride, offering viewers a relatable and engaging glimpse into student life. The successful implementation of #BerdeBeginnings Phase 3 underscores the importance of innovative and student-centered activities in building an engaged and values-driven university community. Through the Swap Party and the vlog competition “A Day in My Life as a UCian,” the activity promoted sustainability, creativity, and school spirit, setting a positive and purposeful tone for the new year.
