In the Closet 2: A Sumikom Podcast Returns with a Story of Courage, Advocacy, and Pride

Following the successful launch of In the Closet: A Sumikom Podcast, SUMIKOM continues its mission of amplifying authentic LGBTQIA+ voices through meaningful conversations that inspire reflection, understanding, and solidarity. For its second episode, the podcast welcomed Mx. Julia Soriano, a courageous law student from the University of the Cordilleras and a proud former member of SUMIKOM.

Known for their unwavering commitment to equality, Mx. Julia has become a familiar and respected voice in rallies, forums, and safe spaces, consistently standing at the forefront of advocating for the rights and dignity of the LGBTQIA+ community. In this heartfelt conversation, Mx. Julia shares their personal journey of self-discovery, leadership, and advocacy, highlighting the challenges and triumphs of embracing one’s identity while pursuing a career in law. Through honest storytelling, listeners are reminded that true representation begins when people are given the space to tell their stories in their own words. Rooted in the vision of creating an inclusive, student-led platform, In the Closet: A Sumikom Podcast continues to document lived experiences that educate, empower, and encourage meaningful dialogue. More than a podcast, it serves as a growing archive of resilience, hope, and collective action, affirming that every story shared contributes to a more compassionate and inclusive campus community.

As SUMIKOM continues this initiative, the message remains clear: Pride doesn’t end in June, it lives in every brave story told, every voice amplified, and every act of courage that inspires others to live authentically.

Stay tuned for more episodes of In the Closet: A Sumikom Podcast, where stories are not only heard, but they are also celebrated, remembered, and transformed into catalysts for understanding and change.
