March is a month that celebrates the achievements and breakthroughs of women. This is the time of the year where we recognize the contributions they made in many fields, from psychology to politics and more. We also acknowledge the hardships women faced in the past, either inequalities or gender bias and stereotypes. Even though these conflicts are lessened because of protests and advocacy of women, these problems are still observable in today’s time. So, with the initiative of Psych-BES Society, The University of the Cordilleras (UC) held the seminar “HERstory in the Making: The Psychology of the Empowered Woman” on March 21 at the UC Auditorium in celebration of Women’s Month wherein, Dr. Angelita Ancheta Padilla shared insights from over four decades of experience, emphasizing the impact of women in shaping history and advancing empowerment. She urged participants to “fight for your right” and to work toward a gender-equal society where women are seen, heard, and valued.

In line with this, we should be inspired to build and create a world that is lacking gender inequality and giving fair and equal rights and opportunities to women. We must treat them with respect as we treat men, to enhance cohesion and provide a better framework for impartiality. These statements are backed up by evidence, evidence that left long lasting impressions on the public. The evidence stems from outstanding individuals like Corazon Aquino and Gabriela Silang, who led the early stage of fighting and advocating for the rights and privileges of women. In today’s era, women like Hidilyn Diaz or Leni Robredo who actively showcase the achievements and effort of women to let the people know their potential.
