The University of the Cordilleras-College of Arts and Sciences (UC-CAS), in partnership with University of the Cordilleras-Guidance Services and Wellness Center (UC-GSWC), brought valuable resources and learning to two communities at Barangay Kayapa, Nueva Vizcaya and Pito, Bokod with its community service LUGUD: Learning towards Unity, Growth, and Upliftment for Community Development on November 7-8, 2025..
Students from Grade 7 to 12 at Kayapa High School benefited from a Mental Health Symposium and Career Talk, focusing on wellness and future planning. Simultaneously, local Barangay Health Workers and officials underwent their very first training in Psychological First Aid (PFA), equipping them to support community well-being.
The pupils of Akbot Elementary School in Pito,Bokod received a bounty of donations to support their education and safety, including books, hand soap, rain gear (raincoats, rain boots, umbrellas), and various school supplies. While the children celebrated a special “Children’s Day” filled with hygiene discussions, safe touches awareness, and play, their parents attended a vital session on Parenting and Mental Health.
Through knowledge shared and kindness given, the two day community extension was not just an activity: but it also planted the seeds for a stronger, more informed, and deeply supported community.
