In celebration of World Mental Health Day 2025 which is in line with the observance of World Mental Health Day 2025, the SN Aboitiz Power Group (SNAP), through its BRIGHTS Scholarship Program partnered with the University of the Cordilleras (UC) Guidance Services and Wellness Center (GSWC), hosted a virtual talk titled “Thriving in College: Building Resilience and Coping Strategies for Mental Well-being” on October 11, 2025, via Google Meet.
The event was organized to support scholars in managing their mental health and navigating the demands of college life. Attended by 19 scholars and 3 personnels, the session featured Ma’am Faith M. Grothkopf, RGC, the university’s Guidance Counselor, as the guest speaker. Her talk focused on critical mental health topics that affect students, including academic stress, family and peer pressures, personal expectations, and navigating relationships. A particularly heartfelt moment during the session was when Ma’am Faith touched on the topic of loss, a subject that resonated deeply with her and the audience. Her openness and sincerity in addressing grief and its emotional toll became a powerful reminder of the importance of compassion and support systems, especially for young individuals striving to succeed in their studies while carrying personal burdens.

Rather than holding a traditional open forum, the session concluded with an interactive activity featuring four questions. Two participants answered each question, creating a dynamic exchange of insights and reflections from the scholars. The event wrapped up with meaningful insights and a call to prioritize mental well-being as an essential part of student life. With initiatives like this, SNAP and its partners continue to promote holistic education, empowering scholars not just to succeed academically, but to thrive mentally and emotionally.
